Pancakes 

​She cupped her palm against her cheek, leaning in to listen more closely. Their table flooded with Breakfast and two cups of coffee –  one Espresso and one Latté. “… And then I’m like what are you…”, his eyes sparkled as his lips unraveled an amusing incident from work. Staring straight into his eyes, her lips stretched into a new kind of smile. She looked down at her plate, grabbing the maple syrup and pouring it. Her heart fluttered, she looked up – trying her best to not lose eye contact with him, still smiling. She had no idea what he was talking about, but in the past 20 minutes a sudden sense of clarity had hit her. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she asked him “… and then ?”. She realized that all she wants everyday, for the rest of her life, was this very morning. She knew that this was love, the kind she wants to live each day in the shade of. “…And that was so funny I couldn’t stop laughing!”, he exclaimed and both of them threw their heads back laughing on the backrest of the cushioned seats. They looked like kindergarten kids following a mischief. “Shh…. We are too loud.”, she said with a grin and her eyes rolling to the waitress on the counter. Sipping from her coffee mug, she watched him take a bite of the omelette. She wondered, if he knew.
